"Good morning, Nessie," my dad said to me as I walked down to breakfast. Everyone calls me Nessie, the name that Jacob, my childhood friend and now boyfriend had given to me. I'm fine with it. Jacob is also a werewolf. Some of the Quilieutes in his tribe got the shape-shifting gene to protect society from the Cold Ones. A.K.A, vampires. He imprinted on me, but I don't care. I love him no matter what.
"Good morning, Dad," I replied back to him. I was still groggy from a very short night's sleep. No one ever sleeps in my family. Well, except for Jacob and Seth and Leah.
"Today's the big day, Renesmee," my mother said to me, and put her hands on my father's shoulders. He looked up and smiled at her and she bent down to kiss him on his lips. This proceeded for at least ten seconds. They did this a lot. This used to make me jealous because they love each other very much. Aunt Alice said it's my human hormones that's causing me to act like the teenager I really am, and will be for the next eternity.
You see, I'm half-human. And half-vampire. I was born after my mother, Isabella, and my father, Edward, were married and before my mother became a vampire. I am told I made my mother's pregnancy a living hell. I didn't need to be told, though. I remember.
I'm dressed in my pajamas. A bright red tank top and dark red and light-red striped pajama bottoms. My thoughts are interrupted when Aunt Rosalie comes downstairs hand-in-hand with Uncle Emmett, dressed in an entirely new and equally stunning outfit. "Beautiful, Rose!" I tell her.
She shrugs, with a toothy grin, something she never did until I was born. She's my favorite. "Well, I do try. Give me a hug. Oh! Happy birthday, by the way!" _Thanks._ I pushed my thoughts into our hug.
"So...what do you want as a present?"
_Nothing. I'm just glad I can_ finally _go to school!_
She laughed. "Yeah, but you had to wait until you stopped growing _completely._ You reached maturity at age seventeen--why am I telling you this? You know everything! God!" She laughed again.
I'm officially seventeen. Kind of. I was born seven years ago. Because I am part vampire, my growth rate was very fast, but now I will stop aging for centuries, more if I am lucky. Eventually I will die.
I don't talk a lot. My mother says I'm like my parents that way. But I'm always thinking. I know I'm like my Dad in there. What is really unuseful to me is that my Dad is a mind-reader. He always knows when I sneak out to be with Jacob. My mom has a mental shield to block powers. Except for mine. I can penetrate any shield known to vampire. Since I have the opposite of my parent's powers, it wasn't long before they discovered that I can have a mental shield too. If I try, like my mother can remove hers if she tries.
Other than the obvious, I am not like other teenagers. Because of my intense emotional attachment to my parents. I know they love me very much and would die for me, like my mother was willing to do. As soon as I found out I was hurting her, I tried to stop.
My dad got up in a flash to get my breakfast off the stove and sat down again. "Eat your eggs and drink your milk," he said, placing a plate in front of me. I did. I hate eggs. I hate all human food. Especially water. But I don't hate milk. Probably because it's not really milk. It's blood. I get some human blood every once in a while. It usually holds me for about a week before I go hunting with Jacob.
After 45 seconds, I showed my dad empty dishes. "Done."
He said nothing. He gave a familiar look to Aunt Rosalie, the look that meant, _kill me now_. I straightened out my pants and tossed my long, red curls around a little bit, rubbed the sleep out of my eye. I crossed my legs and pointed my toes. Good thing I had them fresh painted yesterday. They were OPI's Vampire Love red. As in blood red. Everyone knew that was my favorite color. I would have liked it even if I didn't love blood, though. It's a haunting color.
"The dog's here." Aunt Rosalie said, lips pursed and eyebrows firm, not to mention completely still-bodied. As soon as I sensed the door opening I sped up to the door and gave Jacob a big hug.
"Nessie!" He exclaimed. He looked me up and down, pausing for a little bit. I felt my dad tense up and I turned around to give him a glare. I turned back around and gave Jacob a kiss on the lips. I put a hand on his cheek to give him a quick recap of the what happened since I last saw him. He always asks. "Happy birthday, beautiful!" he said.
I blushed. "I missed you."
"I know." We hugged again and kissed again and my dad coughed. Jacob held my hand and stepped in front of me, walking towards my mother to give her a quick hug.
Jacob caught me by surprise when he spoke to me again. "I was going to take you to school. I know we'll go to different ones, but I just wanted to make your first day special. You don't have to ride with your family if you don't want to." Behind my back, I heard Aunt Alice and Uncle Jasper appear next to Aunt and Uncle Rosalie and Emmett.
"Of course! But give me literally one second to get dressed and ready." I replied. Jacob nodded and grinned. He started his watch and I zoomed upstairs, took a moment to decide what to wear, and zoomed back downstairs all made up. I had never worn makeup before, but from the quick glance I got of myself in the mirror, (remembering it now) I looked amazing. My whole family and especially Jake had always told me that I was the most beautiful thing on this planet, but if anything, makeup enhanced that. I never got a big head over it, but I was conscious of the fact that I was pretty.
"Seven seconds. New record...for slowest time. It was the makeup, I'm betting. But I don't care. Take seven seconds if you want. A _normal_ girl would have taken an hour, so I'm good." Jacob said, looking at is watch. I giggled.
I loved the way he looked at me. It was the most special thing in the world. "We'll see you suckers later." Jacob told my family. And off to school we went.
